DIRECT METHOD
This
direct method is a method that is simple, but a little tricky. In this method
the teacher and students are strictly forbidden to use their mother tongue.
They use is a second language. This method is good for beginners to provide
heating when teach language. In order to increase the curiosity of
students to what was said by the teacher. Of course if students are curious
about what is taught by the teacher, will arise curiosity within themselves to
find out what was said by the teacher and they will be interested as well get
used to saying what the teacher is saying. Here will train students' ability,
especially in listening and their speaking skill , followed again by their
reading skills would be better. So the teacher should correct the pronunciation
side here.
The
teacher's role here is only mastered the language he uses entirely. Teachers
must use language that is taught fully, not allowed to use a language other
than the language being taught. We demonstrated if a teacher teaches English,
teachers are required to use the English language from the beginning to the end
of the explanation. May not use a language other than English.
If
there is a student who does not understand what the teacher explained the
meaning of words, and asked to the teacher, the teacher can only practices, until
the student understands what is being said by the teacher. To that end,
teachers are advised to bring props as a tool that can help to make students
better understand what the teacher meant.
This
method is the same as the method of teaching is done by a mother to her child
who has not understood anything. At first mom taught word for word to his son,
and shows, to aspire to the child what is meant by the words of his
mother. Furthermore, the child will understand what is spoken mother and the
child will then be familiar and remember it.
In
specific teaching methods certainly all have the same goal. But certainly has
its drawbacks. Including this method. This method is good for starters for the
students, so that they are more like the language we teach. But if this method that
used to start from the beginning to the end of learning, then it would make
students less understanding about what is meant by teachers fluent. Because
they are too busy looking for what purpose the teacher beforehand. Learning
will also be chaotic if there are students who are not at all interested and
curious if the teacher is not successful in attracting the attention of
disciples.
If
we look at today, this method can only be used in language classes. Because
they have a high curiosity. However, if applied with regular classes, students
naturally tend to play, because they do not understand what the teacher said.
Sense of boredom students today are much higher in their study than sense want to know to a science, especially foreign languages.
